The Great Smoky Mountains Railway winds up, down, and around the mountains of Western North Carolina. Traveling beside the Little Tennessee River, the Tuskaseigee River, the Nantahala River, and Fontana Lake at different times during the excursion captivates young and old alike. Come ride in the spring and enjoy the Dogwoods, Mountain Laurel, Rhododendron or Wild Azeleas in bloom. In the fall watch as the leaves of the trees turn from their dark summer green to the oranges, reds, yellows and browns that bring people to the mountains from all over the world.

Depots are located in Sylva, Bryson City, and Andrews they offer rides lasting from 2 1/2 to 7 hours.
